A Romantic Engagement Session at Jekyll Island Club & Crane Cottage
There is something undeniably romantic about Jekyll Island. The towering live oaks draped in Spanish moss, the historic architecture, the quiet paths, and the feeling that time moves just a little slower here make it one of my favorite places on the Georgia coast to photograph couples in love.
For this engagement session, we spent time exploring the grounds of the Jekyll Island Club Resort, with much of our session taking place around the beautiful Crane Cottage Gardens. It was the perfect setting for a couple who wanted their engagement photos to feel romantic, timeless, and completely connected to the beauty of the island.
Crane Cottage is one of those places that photographs beautifully from every angle. Built in 1917 in the Italian Renaissance style, the historic cottage is surrounded by beautifully maintained grounds, including its formal sunken garden, terraces, courtyard, and reflecting pool lawn.
Romantic, intentional, and completely you
One of my favorite parts of an engagement session is getting couples out of their heads and allowing them to simply enjoy being together.
Rather than spending the entire session posing and looking at the camera, I want you to remember what it actually felt like to be engaged. The way your fiancé looked at you. The laughter that happened in between photographs. The little touches and quiet moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.
As we wandered through the Crane Cottage Gardens, I gave them gentle direction when they needed it, while leaving plenty of room for the natural moments to unfold. We walked through the gardens, held hands, laughed together, slowed down, and took in the beauty around us.
And that is exactly what I love about photographing couples.
You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need to feel completely comfortable in front of a camera. You just need to show up ready to be yourselves and enjoy this season of your life together.
The beauty of Crane Cottage
The gardens surrounding Crane Cottage create such an elegant backdrop for engagement portraits. The historic architecture brings a timeless, almost European feel to the photographs, while the surrounding greenery and mature trees keep everything feeling warm and natural.
It's a beautiful combination of historic Jekyll Island charm and romantic Southern scenery.
And because there are so many different areas to explore around the property, an engagement session can feel like a little adventure rather than simply standing in one location taking photographs.
We can move from the gardens and architecture into the surrounding oak-lined areas, creating a gallery that feels varied while still telling one cohesive story.
Your engagement photos should feel like your relationship
The photographs I love most aren't always the perfectly posed ones.
They're the ones where you can see the way two people genuinely love each other.
A hand reaching for another hand. A forehead pressed against the person you love. A laugh that wasn't planned. The way you naturally lean toward each other when you aren't thinking about the camera.
Those are the photographs I want to create for you.
Because your engagement session isn't just about having beautiful photos to send to family or use for your save-the-dates. It's an opportunity to slow down during a season of life that can move incredibly quickly and simply celebrate the two of you.
For couples looking for a Jekyll Island engagement photographer, the Jekyll Island Club and Crane Cottage offer an incredible combination of historic architecture, lush gardens, mature oak trees, and timeless coastal Georgia beauty.
And honestly, it's hard to imagine a more romantic place to begin documenting the next chapter of your story.
