A Timeless Maternity Session at Jekyll Island Club

There are some seasons of life that deserve to be documented slowly.

Pregnancy is one of them.

The anticipation, the excitement, the growing belly, the way your family is changing before your eyes — these are moments that can be difficult to fully appreciate while you're living through them. A maternity session gives you the chance to pause and remember this little in-between season before everything changes.

For this maternity session at the Jekyll Island Club Resort, we explored some of the most beautiful and timeless areas of the property, from the enormous live oak trees to the historic cottages and the peaceful marsh-side landscape.

The result was a gallery that felt both elegant and natural — a reflection of this beautiful season of becoming a family.

One of my favorite things about photographing on Jekyll Island is the variety of scenery that exists within such a small area. The historic district surrounding the Jekyll Island Club is filled with beautiful architecture, winding paths, lush greenery, and enormous live oak trees covered in Spanish moss. The island's historic cottages add another layer of charm, creating photographs that feel timeless rather than overly trendy.

For maternity sessions, I love incorporating all of these elements.

We can begin beneath the oak trees, allowing the soft light filtering through the branches to create intimate portraits. From there, we can wander around the historic cottages before making our way toward the marsh for a completely different feeling.

The quiet beauty of motherhood

There is something especially beautiful about photographing motherhood outdoors.

You don't have to do anything complicated.

Sometimes it's simply walking hand in hand with your partner. Sometimes it's resting a hand on your belly. Sometimes it's the two of you standing together and realizing that this tiny person you've been waiting for is almost here. Those quiet moments are often the ones that mean the most.
